Kids' Lecture: "A Journey to Space from OIST"

In conjunction with Science and Technology Week and Earth Day, a science lecture for children and students, called "A Journey to Space from OIST," was held on April 20, 2024.

To experience how space scientists conduct research, participants used polarized sunglasses to observe how various types of light can separate like a rainbow. They also tried on a bracelet that only absorbs ultraviolet light and glows.
Dr. Yuko Kakazu gave an easy-to-understand explanation of some of the secrets of the universe that can be seen from the Subaru Telescope in Hawaii, and the children asked many questions about the mysteries of the universe.

Lecturer: Dr. Yuko Kakazu (National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, TMT International Observatory)
Number of participants: 500
