On January 11-13, HiSci Lab 2025, a workshop was held to help high school girls in Okinawa Prefecture choose a career path in the science field. Twenty-eight students from high schools in Okinawa Prefecture participated.

During the three-day workshop, students attended lectures by OIST professors and technicians, as well as local experts in clothing and food culture.

The first day opened with career talks by three female scientists and an introduction to OIST.

The second day started with an introduction to OIST innovation and learning about Ryukyu indigo dyeing. Students also had a chance to actually experience indigo dyeing. After that, students attended a lecture on local production for local consumption and Okinawa's healthy longevity diet, and practiced cooking using local ingredients.

On the final day, students learned about 'Sustainable Living Architecture' which aims to utilize renewable energy in dwellings. At the end of the workshop, students were divided into groups to summarize what they had learned in the workshop and gave a presentation.

With the help of many professionals, participants were able to experience a program full of enriching learning opportunities.
