Work Experience Program for Yomitan Junior High School Students
Five students from Yomitan Junior High School participated in a workplace learning program at OIST on July 2nd and 3rd.
During the program, the students explored a variety of roles that support and contribute to OIST’s unique environment. They took part in an interpretation workshop with the Translation and Interpretation Team, engaged in ant research with the Biodiversity and Biocomplexity Unit, and and took part in childcare and education programs at the Tedako Child Development Center. Additionally, they learned about OIST's outreach activities aimed at connecting science and society.
In addition, the students had the opportunity to talk with students from the Japanese language class over lunch. They also toured the OIST campus, including visits to the research buildings.
This experience allowed them to gain insight not only into scientific research, but also into the many different ways people support and communicate science at OIST.
