What is an External Teacher?

外部講師とは？

An External Teacher is a person who provides services (e.g. classes, instruction) to members of the OIST community (staff, students, and family members thereof), using OIST facilities, that contribute to the OIST Mission and Vision. An External Teacher is not paid by OIST for the services provided but may receive payment directly from those making use of their services.

外部講師とは、OISTコミュニティメンバー(職員、学生及びその家族)　に対し、OISTの施設を使用してOISTのミッションやビジョンに貢献するサービスを提供する者である。外部教員は、提供するサービスに対してOISTから報酬を受けることはないが、サービスを利用する者から直接報酬を受けることができる。

Who are eligibile to become an External Teacher?

外部講師として登録ができる方とは？

• Temporary staff members working at OISTーOISTに勤務する派遣社員
• Family members of OIST students or employeesーOIST生徒または従業員の家族
• Those who do not work/study at OISTーOISTに勤務／就学していない方

Who are NOT eligible to become an External Teacher?

外部講師として登録ができない方とは？

• OIST employees/students whose salary/Research Assistantship is paid directly by OISTーOISTで勤務・就学していてOISTから直接給与・リサーチ・アシスタントシップを受け取っている方
  There is a conflict of interest with OIST if you are earning money while using (OIST property).  You cannot earn money while using the facilities here if you are officially employed through OIST.
  OIST施設を使用して収益を得る場合、利益相反が生じるため、OIST直接雇用の方・正規学生はOISTの施設を使用して収益を得ることはできません.

Policies and Guidelines

方針・ガイドライン

1. An External Teacher using OIST facilities must complete, sign, and date an OIST Community Services External Letter Agreement form before being able to teach and use OIST facilities.
2. If the External Teacher is from the external community (not affiliated with OIST), The External Teacher must indicate on the registration form the name of their OIST contact person or list Recreation Services.
3. Facilities are shared with a rule 2 x 2  (facility use is limited up to 2 days a week, 2 hours at a time).
4. There is an expectation that 70% of the class members must be OIST members in order to utilize the facilities for free. 
5. External Teachers may utilize the OIST facilities for free. There is an expectation that the compensation rate is between 1,500¥ to 2,000¥ per hour.
6. Participation fee will be paid directly to the External Teacher from the participant. At no time should the External Teacher change their rates without consulting with the Director of Recreation.
7. Recreation Services will be the holder of the registration site for registered users of the activity. This is necessary for audit reasons to track the facility usage and OIST participants. All new students will need to register using the Recreation Services registration site.
8. It is an OIST rule that OIST employees/students cannot utilize OIST facilities to make a second income. OIST employees/students are not allowed to use the facilities to earn income. This is due to OIST being subsidized by government funds.
9. All activities inside the OIST recreation facilities will be reviewed for proper use and class participation. Recreation Services reserves the right to move or cancel your activity based on participation level, not using the facility or breach of agreement.

1. OIST施設を使用する外部講師は　施設を使用し始める前に必ず申し込み用紙に署名、日付を記入し提出しなければならない。
2. もし、外部講師がOIST所属外である場合、講師は申込用紙にOIST所属の人の名前もしくはレクリエーションサービスと記入しなくてはならない。
3. 施設の予約は２ｘ２のルールに従う。（施設の使用の上限は週に2日、一回に2時間までとする）
4. OIST施設を無料で利用するには、クラス受講者の70％がOISTのメンバーでなくてはならない。
5. 外部講師はOIST施設を無料で使用できる。受講者からは1500円から2000円の受講料を集金できる。
6. 受講者は講師に直接受講料を支払う。講師はレクリエーションディレクターに相談なく受講料を変更することはできない。
7. レクリエーションサービスはアクティビティ利用者の登録情報の保有者とする。これは監査時に施設利用とOIST参加者の追跡に使用される。
8. OISTの職員・学生は副収入を得るためにOIST施設を利用してはならない。OISTの職員・生徒は施設を利用して収入を得てはならない。これはOISTが政府資金の補助を受けているためである。
9. OIST施設内で行われている活動はクラスの施設の利用とクラスの参加についてのレビューと確認が行われる。レクリエーションサービスは、クラス参加者数や施設の不使用、契約違反があった場合には活動の移動または排除ができる権利を保有する。
