Series Introduction:
This six-part workshop series explores how people learn, drawing from foundational theories in educational psychology to help participants become more intentional, reflective educators. Rather than focusing on teaching techniques alone, the series centers on the learning process itself. We direct our attention to how knowledge is acquired, retained, and applied. By grounding course design and instruction in evidence-based understandings of learning, participants will be better equipped to support diverse learners in the classroom, the lab, and other settings. This is especially useful for those at OIST who have no teaching repertoire to draw on and are therefore often unable to position themselves in workshops that start from teaching and work backwards to learning. By fronting the experience of learning and applying that to a variety of learning environments, including classroom teaching, students gain a comprehensive start to understanding how their own stories of learning unfold into well-informed teaching and mentorship experiences in the future.
If you plan to attend at least one of the workshops above, please do register.
If you do plan to register for this series, please respond by February 9.
