Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Staff Scientist or Postdoc, Organic Optoelectronics Unit (Kabe Unit)

The position

At the Organic Optoelectronics Unit (Kabe Unit), we are looking for an experienced postdoctoral scholar in the field of perovskite and/or organic photovoltaic technologies. Additional experience on the material synthesis, characterization, and device fabrication of transparent or semi-transparent solar cell technology is preferred.

Responsibilities

The applicant will work on the following themes based on the applicant's research experience.

  1. Synthesis and characterization of transparent absorber, charge transporting layers, and electrodes
  2. Experience with lead-based 3D, 2D, lead free, and/or inorganic transparent perovskites
  3. Fabrication and characterization of complete transparent perovskite solar cells
  4. Indoor and outdoor operational stability analysis of perovskite solar cells
  5. Preparation of periodic reports to keep track of the progress of the project
Qualifications

(Required)

  1. Ph.D. degree (Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or Engineering)
  2. For Staff Scientist, more than 5 years of research experience after obtaining PhD
  3. Good writing and communication skills in English

(Preferred)

  1. Demonstrated experience in the design, fabrication, and characterization of transparent or semi-transparent solar cells (perovskite, organic, or hybrid systems)
  2. Experience in thin-film deposition via solution and/or vacuum processing (e.g., spin-coating, thermal evaporation, sputtering, and ALD)
  3. Hands-on experience with solar cell device fabrication and performance evaluation (J-V, EQE, and stability testing)
  4. Familiarity with advanced characterization techniques (e.g., UV-Vis, XPS, UPS, LEIPS, SEM, AFM, and XRD)
  5. Strong publication record
Compensation and Benefits

For Staff Scientist:

Expected Annual Salary: 5.0M – 7.5M yen*

*This amount represents the expected annual salary range for this position, which will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills and background in accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations.

For Postdoctoral Scholar:

Expected Annual Salary: 4.5M-5.9M yen

In accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations.

Full-time, fixed-term appointment for 1 year, in the scope of an OIST Innovation Proof of Concept project. Contract initially with 6-month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be extended if the project is approved for continuation.
