Toward the design of programmable sequence-specific RNA-binding proteins by Dr. Iori Morita
Friday January 9th, 2026 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Seminar Room C210

Description

Detection and regulation of ssRNA are of great interest in synthetic and cell biology. Developing a programmable and sequence-specific ssRNA-binding protein would facilitate such studies.

Thanks to the recent advances in machine-learning-based computational tools for modeling proteins, designing complex structures involving both protein and non-protein molecules, such as DNA and RNA, is becoming more and more accessible. Leveraging the state-of-the-art computational tools, we aim to design programmable, sequence-specific RNA binders. In this talk, I will present our design approach and our initial experimental screening results.
