White oval squid camouflaging when sitting still
White oval squid, or shiro-ika, have been shown to exhibit a wide range of camouflaging behaviors when sitting still, alone and clumping together with other squid, creating asymmetrical representations of their surroundings to hide from predators. Top-view shows the dazzling ‘disruptive’ pattern that obfuscates their true size and location to predators.
