Our unit explores the syntheses of novel functional organic materials and carbon-based nanomaterials with atomically precise chemical structures, using methods from synthetic organic chemistry and materials science. We aim to elucidate the relationships between structure and properties in nanomaterials and develop advanced materials for applications in fields ranging from optoelectronics and nanoelectronics to bioimaging, biomedicine, and neuroscience.
