Flow pattern of a WLM solution around a microfluidic cylinder

This video depicts the motion of a specific worm-like micellar solution with a cylinder obstructing the flow path. The streak lines are visualized under a microscope using fluorescent tracer particles. As the flow rate of the material increases, the motion of the fluid becomes unstable upstream of the cylinder. This is contrary to the downstream instabilities seen in Newtonian fluids.
