Illustration of manual melanophore tracking in clownfish skin. Images of clownfish skin were taken every 24 hours and prominent melanophores were selected, labeled with distinctly colored and shaped symbols, and followed over extended periods of time. The example shows a 9-day old clownfish on the left and the same fish at 15 days on the right.
