The 28th annual International Symposium on Space Technology and Science (ISTS) is being held in Okinawa this year, and OIST is there, introducing participants and other attendees – curious families, aspiring astronauts, and veteran aerospace scientists alike - to the ambitious project for interdisciplinary research and education that has been undertaken at OIST. From June 5th to 12th, the Okinawa Convention Center in Ginowan City will host booths and public events to accompany the symposium’s more formal conference sessions. Sponsored by the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and Okinawa Prefecture, ISTS has attracted hundreds of visitors from overseas alone, not to mention the domestic participants and general public who come to be inspired and enlightened by the latest in space science. Though not directly involved in aerospace research, OIST is honored to be included in this event and hopes it will prove an opportunity to spread the word about its goals and aspirations among scientists, educators, students, and industry representatives.
