Occupational and School Health Physician

The position

Division  summary:
The OIST Health Center offers occupational health consultations, medical examinations, and stress checks to faculty, staff, students, and their families. The clinic delivers comprehensive health support to address both the physical and psychological needs of the OIST community.

Position  summary:
The OIST Occupational Physician performs a diverse set of responsibilities including conducting medical examinations for OIST employees, overseeing workplace health and safety, and developing health education programs. This role also involves managing on-campus clinics. Beyond fulfilling the legal obligations of an occupational physician, the OIST Occupational Physician is dedicated to supporting the comprehensive wellbeing of the OIST community through the development of school health plans and collaboration with on-campus counseling services. Additionally, this position collaborates closely with the University Community Service Director to develop future strategies and policies for the healthcare system, including the OIST Clinic and counseling services.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct health checkups and workplace inspections, maintain the work environment, provide health education, consultation with the Safety and Health Committee, and perform other occupational physician’s duties which are provided in the Japanese law (Articles 14 and 15 of the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health).
  2. Create and revise the school health plan, health consultation, health guidance, and other school physician’s duties, which are provided in the Japanese law (Article 22 of the Ordinance on School Health).
  3. Manage the OIST Stress Check program and work with the OIST Ganjuu Wellbeing Service to provide a comprehensive wellbeing program.
  4. Provide medical advice on campus, including childcare facility.
  5. Various procedures for operating the OIST Clinic as an insured medical institution (including individual guidance at the competent Health and Welfare Bureau as a managing physician), as well as medical services and administrative duties at the Clinic.  
  6. Oversee the health center and clinic, which includes managing employees, organization, and budget.
  7. Develop future strategies and policies for OIST's occupational physicians, counseling services (Ganjuu), and clinic in collaboration with the Director of University Community Services,
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Secretary General/Vice-CEO.
Qualifications

(Required)

  1. Qualified as an occupational physician or able to obtain an occupational physician license within one year of starting the position.
  2. Have completed clinical training and be registered as an insured physician or be eligible for registration.  
  3. Ability to perform responsibilities in both English and Japanese.
  4. Experience in managing a health care team.
  5. Ability to work well in a team and cooperate well with others.
  6. PC skills to use Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)  

(Preferred)

  1. Work experience as an occupational physician.
Compensation and Benefits

In accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations
Expected Annual Salary: 14,000,000 yen
*This amount represents the median annual salary for this position, which will be determined based on your experience and skills in accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations.
