A+ for OIST Faculty Recruitment: FY2010 Performance Evaluation

Toward the opening of the Graduate University, OIST has made steady progress. ” – Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Promotion Corporation Comprehensive Evaluation (FY2010 Performance)

On September 5th, 2011, an external evaluation committee (OIST Sub-committee of the Cabinet Office Independent Administrative Institution Evaluation Committee) chaired by Dr. Ryo Hirasawa, Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, announced the results of their evaluation of OIST’s administrative performance in fiscal year 2010 (April 2010 - March 2011.) Of 19 items, the following 3 received the highest score, an “A+” indicating “outstanding performance”: 1) faculty recruitment, 2) preparation for the establishment of the Graduate University including submission of the application to the Government; and 3) institutional efforts to increase administrative efficiency including rigorous audits. The other 16 items, including appropriate and efficient budget execution and facility construction received an “A” indicating “satisfactory achievement” This is the first time OIST has received more than one “A+” with all other items evaluated “A” and above.
