Neurons in culture still make connections

18 May 2012

Brain Mechanisms for Behaviour Unit researchers grew these cells at first in separate compartments. The green cells came from embryonic mouse cortex while the red stains all neuronal dendrites.  Blue stain is in the long axons of the cortical cells reaching out to their partners grown from the mouse striatum. The cortex connects to the striatum in the brain normally.
