Izuru Maeda

Izuru Maeda is an HR professional with thirty (30) plus years of HR experience in Japan and Asia Pacific. He has vast operational, strategic planning, and project management experience in a variety of HR fields such as recruiting, organization development, employee & labor relations and furthermore HR systems harmonization at acquisition and divestiture at a previous international company. Notably, he also was a winner as the best coach for other employees at a previous company.
Mr. Maeda joined OIST as a manager of Employee and Labor Relations Section in 2021 and assumed the additional task to lead the reformation of the current Talent Management systems and operating model, primarily targeted at the Management & Support organization. Throughout this special project, he led a special task team to generate improvement plans. Mr. Maeda is now expected to bring high expertise, i.e. practical know-how and wisdom acquired through his rich experience, in order to successfully implement these plans to increase both organizational productivity and employees’ satisfaction, in a way that we can leverage the overall value of OIST as an excellent employer as well as an excellent research institute and graduate school.
Before coming to OIST, Mr. Maeda's most noteworthy projects include: Pay system renewal for plant technicians, establishment of Health Insurance Association and Company Pension Program, installation of Employee & Labor Risk Assessment Tool to all across Asian countries (from Japan to India), Organization assessment and renewal process for multiple production sites and Emergency Response Task Team in HR field at big earthquakes; Great Hanshin Earthquake and Great East Japan Earthquake.
