SEED Program:Miyazaki Prefectural Miyakonojo Izumigaoka high school visited OIST
Students from Miyakonojo IzumigaOka High School gave poster presentations on their research projects and received feedback in English from OIST PhD students. Following this, a campus tour was conducted, allowing the students to deepen their understanding of OIST’s research facilities and its international research environment.
In the afternoon program, a lecture was given by Mr. Okay Cem,( Chief Information Officer/ IT Division), who introduced his own career in the IT field and explained the role of information infrastructure in supporting research institutions. This was followed by a career talk by OIST PhD student Tomoya Noma (Nucleic Acid Chemistry and Engineering Unit), who shared insights into daily life as a researcher and his motivation for pursuing a PhD.
In addition, a lecture titled “Designing Biosystems” introduced the properties of DNA and RNA as well as recent advances in biotechnology. The students were able to engage with real research activities through a lab tour, providing them with an opportunity to deepen their interest in research and consider their future career paths
