On June 11, a Review Committee for future OIST and its issues was held at Cabinet Office. The possible procedures for evaluation and verification of the School Corporation have been discussed prior to FY 2021, the 10th year review after the enactment of OIST School Corporation Act.
Within this fiscal year, CAO plans to consolidate the all items for the 10th year review, through hearings at OIST, Okinawa Prefecture, and other stakeholders to prepare the 10 Year Evaluation Report in FY 2021. CAO announced that the revision of the OIST School Corporation Act could be implemented if necessary.
The Review Committee members are composed of several experts. “What was the original purpose of the establishing OIST? One of the mission of OIST is to promote local economy, and we need to have a persuasive evaluation method demonstrating our way forward for the next step.”
In FY2017 OIST Business Performance Report, OIST submitted its self-evaluation, marking all the five items including research and education, contribution to self-sustaining development of Okinawa as, “Implemented as planned.”
