Title: Thermal adaptation of mitochondria
 
Abstract:
I would like to introduce my work and myself as a future postdoctoral researcher at OIST. 
Although my former work focused on molecular ecology of fish, my current goal is 
to identify thermally sensitive parts of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and nuclear DNA (nDNA) 
sequences associated with selected mitochondrial haplotypes, and examine the performance 
of different mito-nuclear allelic combinations on the fruit fly model. I believe that application 
of mito-genomic, landscape-genetic, population-genomic and transcriptomic methods, 
combined with manipulative laboratory experiments on a common laboratory organism, 
will enable me to resolve whether the thermal environment can shape the evolution of 
mitochondrial genomes in wild populations and if so, what mechanisms play a key role.
