The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST; see is a dynamic new graduate university of science and technology in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The university is located on 85 hectares of protected forestland overlooking beautiful shoreline and coral reefs. The campus is striking architecturally, and the facilities are outstanding (OIST campus video tour). There are no academic departments, which facilitates multidisciplinary research.   1. Assist in creating and editing University Policies, Rules & Procedures (PRP).
  2. Assist administrative works related to Information Disclosure/Privacy Protection/Document Management.
  3. Arrange PRP Review Committee and take meeting minutes.
  4. Prepare documents in English and Japanese and assist with translation and interpretation.



  1. Excellent communication and writing skills in Japanese and English.
  2. Computer skills including experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
  3. Experience and knowledge of writing official documents and business letters.
  4. Ability to engage and interact smoothly with section members and other OIST staff.


  1. Knowledge in Japanese laws and regulations.


Full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years. Contract initially with 3 month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed.

As early as possible

Working Hours 

Flextime (core time 10:00-15:00) 7.5hrs per day (Multiplied by prescribed working days per month)


In accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations

Annual salary: 2.4 million ~ 5.0 million yen (Job class: Administrative staff I-II, A1-A2)


Annual paid leave, summer holidays, Private School Mutual Aid.
