A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available for the Advanced Medical Instrumentation Unit (Pr. Hirotaka Sugawara) at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST). The purpose of our research is to contribute to the progress of medical practice and biological research by developing advanced instruments such as a beam cancer therapy facility (BNCT) and new imaging devices.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team at the interface of physics, biology and chemistry research. He will be involved in developing a hybrid drug delivery system using functionalized boron-delivery nanoparticles. The candidate should be able to graft antibodies, cell-penetrating peptides and micro-RNA on the surface of the nanoparticles in order to specifically target cancer stem cells.
Candidates should hold a PhD and/or have postdoctoral experience in an area related to the project. Candidates should have a strong background in biochemistry. Experience in drug delivery, nanoparticles functionalization, and experience of multidisciplinary research at the interface with the biological and physical sciences would be highly desirable.
