Postdoctoral Researcher in Physical Oceanography

Postdoctoral Scholar
Marine Biophysics Unit

Location 

1919‐1 Tancha, Onna‐son, Okinawa, Japan 904-0495

Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will work on ocean studies in the vicinity of the strong western Kuroshio current and hydrothermal vent fields around Okinawa. Experience in modeling and/or field observations is considered advantageous, although not mandatory.

Qualifications 

(Required)

  1. Ph.D. in in Physical Oceanography, Biological Oceanography or a related field and demonstrate ability in publishing results in peer-reviewed literature. 
  2. Highly desirable qualifications include experience in field observations and ocean modeling and willingness to support student and other team members.
  3. English Proficiency
    Writing: Advanced, Reading and Speaking: Intermediate

Term 

Full-time, fixed term appointment for 1 year. Contract initially with 3 month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed.

as early as possible

Working Hours 

9:00-17:30 (Discretionary)

Compensation 

In accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulation.
