Open positions for post-doctoral researcher in Plant Epigenetics Unit

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST; see is a dynamic new graduate university of science and technology in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The university is located on 85 hectares of protected forestland overlooking beautiful shoreline and coral reefs. Position summary

Researcher (Postdoctoral Scholar) who will study epigenetic mechanisms of gene and transposon regulation in plants, focusing on chromatin modifications including DNA methylation and histone modifications.

The basic responsibilities include; 1) involvement in research projects regarding plant epigenetics and epigenomics, 2) regular progress reports in lab meetings, 3) supports for rotation/intern students, 4) presentation and publication of research outcomes.



1. Ph.D. degree

2. Good communication skills in either Japanese or English.

3. Experiences in molecular biology or biochemistry, or genomics.


1. Experiences in analysis of high-throughput sequencing data are preferred

Starting Date 

As early as possible

Term & Working Hours 

Term: Full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years. This contract may be renewed up to total of 3 years.  

Working hours: 9:00-17:30 (Discretionary)
