One of the fundamental roles of the Division of Buildings and Facilities Management is planning and managing design and construction of new buildings and facilities for OIST in accordance with the framework of OIST’s expansion plans. The Campus Building Section within the Division is responsible for this important task. The Design Assistant will be mainly responsible for preparing presentation materials which show statuses of design and/or construction of new projects in visual manner. The Design Assistant will report directly to the Senior Manager in charge of construction.

  1. Prepare visual presentation materials as to design and/or construction statuses of new projects.
  1. Final products shall be made in ppt format.
  2. Drawings to be used as base material are Auto CAD format.
  3. Prepare colorful presentation by using Illustrator.
  4. Editing Photos is also required.
  1. Prepare simple layout of walls and/or furniture for small scale renovation projects.
  2. Prepare design for simple signages.
  3. Update Master Plan for OIST campus.
  4. Update OIST Facility Standards
  5. Manage small projects
  6. Support assets management



  1. Similar Experiences for over one year.
  2. Ability to prepare colorful presentation materials by using Illustrator.
  3. Ability to prepare visual presentation materials by using ppt.


  1. Communication skill in English
  2. Ability to use Auto CAD and Photoshop, or willingness to learn the same.

Starting Date 

As early as possible

Term & Working Hours 

Term: Full-time, fixed term appointment for 1 year/2 years. Contract initially with 3-month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed.

Working hours: Flextime (core time 10:00-15:00) 7.5 hrs per day (Multiplied by prescribed working days per month)
