OIST invites students currently enrolled in or accepted to a Master's or PhD Program in the U.S. to apply for the OIST PhD Program through the Special Admissions application round. After an initial screening process, successful applicants will be invited to online interviews at the end of June 2025 and results will be announced in July 2025.
All coursework and research activities at OIST are conducted entirely in English.

Students currently enrolled or accepted to universities in the United States (US citizen or international)
Internationally-competitive Student Support
- Fully funded - 2.52 million JPY in the first year (taxable), with increases up to 3.6 million JPY per year as academic progress is achieved. This support is provided as a Research Assistantship.
