Yuan Tseh Lee

Yuan T. Lee, a chemist from Taiwan, has a long association with OIST. He first joined the Board of Governors of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Promotion Corporation in 2007 and has been very influential in the development of the Graduate University. He was a Member of the Board of Governors of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology School Corporation until 2013. He stepped down for a period of two years but has agreed to rejoin the Board of Governors as of October 2015. Yuan T. Lee was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1986 and has been honored for his contribution to science by many nations. He holds Honorary Doctorates from 41 universities worldwide. Yuan T. Lee has been a professor at many institutions: the University of Chicago; University of California, Berkeley; Honorary Professor at the National Taiwan University; and Distinguished Research Fellow at Academia Sinica. He also served as President of the Academia Sinica from 1994 to 2006.
