Dr. Jonathan Dorfan

The Establishing Members for the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology School Corporation announced on July, 9, 2010 that they have selected Prof. Jonathan Dorfan, an internationally recognized physicist and Director Emeritus of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (now renamed SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory), as the first President of the OIST Graduate University scheduled to open in 2011.

His extensive experience as a director and manager of world-class scientific research and as a leader of major international collaborative initiatives will be key to accomplishing the university's goals of recruiting outstanding faculty and students from around the globe, forming the graduate school curriculum, developing OIST's collaboration with academia and industry worldwide, and enhancing OIST's role in the future development of Okinawa.
